A Newsletter for the public education community of Burke, Concord, Lunenburg, Lyndon, Millers Run, Newark, Sutton

On Monday my road flooded and I was homebound. AAAHHH, I was grumpy… then remembered that spring in the NEK eeks out of winter, slowly greening the hills, and closing the canopy as leaves fill up the woodland sky. Ewe’s birth their lambs. We anticipate the 4th of July. Fireworks. Strawberry shortcake. Mixed with cream created from fresh clover (digested in the belly of our cows). Topped with March’s maple syrup!

When I puttered around my house as the water receded, making lunch, boiling tea water, setting a bag for the day and looking out over the field, I thought about the end of May. All sorts of activities, events, and closure for the year. This morning at the Lyndon Walk To School children were running around, eating apples, laughing in the cloudy, gray day. Bright smiles. Bright youth.

If we could bottle those smiles and energy we would be immortal. Drinking in the vim and vigor of youth. Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend, think of the joy of our children, and know that summer is just around the corner. Thank you for all you do.
