KESD SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH
ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ Superintendent Search
We sincerely thank Superintendent Sean McMannon for his dedicated leadership and service to the ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ School District. Since joining ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ’s community in July 2023, after a long and impactful tenure leading the Winooski School District, Mr. McMannon has worked tirelessly to support students, staff, and families across the district’s seven PreK-8 schools, championing academic excellence, community collaboration, and the well-being of all learners. Under his guidance, the district navigated both everyday challenges and strategic initiatives with a focus on student success and strong community partnerships. The ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ School Board has accepted his resignation, with his term concluding effective June 30, 2026, and expresses deep gratitude for his leadership and contributions to the district’s growth and development.
The ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ Board has expressed an interest in starting the superintendent search process ASAP. As directed, we have begun the process by identifying Elaine Pinckney, a retired Champlain Valley School District superintendent, as the consultant who will work with us on the superintendent search. In addition to conducting superintendent searches, Elaine facilitates strategic planning and coaches principals and other educational leaders. Elaine recently assisted the St. Johnsbury School District with their new superintendent search.
After identifying a consultant, the next step in the search process consist of forming a committee to evaluate superintendent candidates and recommend a final candidate to the KESD board, that ultimately makes the hiring decision. The school community is also involved in the search process, with an opportunity to provide input through an online survey. Once candidates are identified, the school and greater community are invited to participate in a candidate meet-and-greet gathering.
